It depends on the application but plastic corner trims are sometimes attached using self-adhesive tape, glue, or mechanical fixings.
There are three main methods to consider when fixing plastic corner trim in place:
1. Self-Adhesive Tape
Stock profiles are not supplied with adhesive tape. For larger custom production runs, it may be possible to apply double-sided tape during the manufacturing process. This allows for an invisible bond without visible fixings. The type of tape used depends on surface material, location (indoor or outdoor), and the strength of the bond required.
2. Glue
Adhesives can be used if they are compatible with rigid PVC and the intended surface. It is recommended to consult an adhesive specialist and check the material data sheets to ensure proper bonding.
3. Mechanical Fixing
Screws can be used to secure the trim, especially on solid surfaces. Pre-drilling is advised to prevent cracking. Note that this method leaves visible fixings, which may not be preferred in all applications.
Each method has its own considerations, and the choice depends on the requirements of the specific project. Samples are available upon request for testing purposes.
