Plastic trim can be attached using self-adhesive tape, glue, or mechanical fixing, depending on the application.
There are three main methods to be considered for fixing plastic trim into position:
1. Self-Adhesive Tape
Our stock profiles do not come with adhesive tape. For larger custom production runs it may be possible to apply double-sided tape to the trim during the manufacturing process. This method provides an invisible bond without visible screws or fasteners. The choice of tape depends on factors such as the strength of the required bond, indoor or outdoor use, and the type of surface the profile will be adherred to.
2. Glue
Various adhesives can be used to attach plastic trim to different surfaces. It's important to select an adhesive compatible both with our rigid PVC and the surface it will be stuck to. It is important to consult an adhesive specialist and referring to our raw material data sheets.
3. Mechanical Fixing
Mechanical methods such as screws or rivets could be used to secure plastic trim. Pre-drilling holes is advisable to prevent cracking. While this method provides a secure hold, the fasteners will be visible, which may not be desirable in all applications.
Each method has its considerations, and the choice depends on the specific requirements of the project.
