What is plastic F profile?

This profile gets its name because it is shaped like a capital F letter.
Plastic F profile can be bought in 75 metre packs, each pack contains 25 X 3 metre lengths.
The material is an external grade rigid PVC, which is also known as uPVC. Therefore F profile can be used either inside or outside. The colours available are white and black.

Using F profile as a shadow gap

F profile is often used as a shadow gap, creating a recess around windows, doors, ceilings and other applications. The recess is set into the surrounding wall and the F profile creates a neat finish for your project.

Other applications for F profile

F profile is sometimes used as an edging trim ensuring a tidy finish. The stalk, or long leg, can be fixed to a wall.
F profile can be used as part of soffit applications, and is sometimes referred to as soffit F trim.
Boards or glazing can be fitted into the F profile, the F profile provides a receiving channel to hide ends of panels.
Also used as F joining section, gap cover and an end stop bead.

How plastic F trims are measured

Our dimensions for plastic F profiles are shown in millimetres:
1st dimension - internal gap (mm)
2nd dimension - external long leg (mm)
3rd dimension - external short legs, which are equal in length (mm)
4th dimension – thickness (mm)
For example F SECTION 10mm x 33mm x10mm x 1.5mm is designed to fit a 10mm board (or provide a 10mm recess), the long leg is 33mm, the two short legs are 10mm (measured externally) and the profile is 1.5mm thick.
